Hi,
Does anyone know how I can find someone to teach me the finer points (like being able to stop) during the week and preferably indoors? Group lessons or private, I want to have the confidence to get out there before the nice weather returns. I did once go to a roller parc out on the RER C when I was here before but it seems to have closed? Paul.

Can you come to Montparnasse on friday evenings ?

Every Friday Night, 21 PM...

You don't speak French ? If you need a teacher, does the teacher need to speak english ? tongue.gif

You'll have problems to find indoor lessons in Paris in my opinion. But you can still go into one of the nice skateparks in the suburbs and learn with some friends.
If you're looking for real lessons (Sadly not free), we can give you some good addresses. If you just want help on your start, the best way is the one Rowan gave.

Have fun, that's the only purpose tongue.gif

Hi, thanks for the reply.
I don't spend many weekends here, I'm a mon-friday commuter.
As to the french, yes, I do speak some but I think if you're having a lesson it's easier if it is explained in your own language.
Paul.

Yes, a couple of addresses to try would be good, I was expecting to pay.
I've passed the 'start' stage, it's the 'stop' bit I want to master because it's giving me a lack of cnfidence to go out on the street!
Paul.

Before I go and grab some information, you're a liner, aren't you?
Quad contructive and organised lessons are much rarer, but well, it's easier to find people willing to teach you some I think, as for instance I'd be free to give you a hand until you'd be able and stop on your own.
But for liners, there are dozens of good teachers, with experimented methods and stuff.

You can find many clubs in the suburbs, I don't know for Paris.

In the 91, there are clubs in almost every "big" cities.
One of the best :

http://robbroller.free.fr/

It's on the RER C, "Breuillet Village" station.

Lessons on monday evening I think.
But I think they were full in september, I don't know now.

But you can find nearer from Paris.
Slaelia
In almost every shop (for instance within Pari-Roller partners) you can find information about lessons.
I know for sure that they give some near Bastille, at Nomades.

I don't know if I'm a liner or not but I now have a plan, I shall bring the skates back with me from the Uk after X-mass, call in that shop at the Bastille and ask about lessons, have a go on my own again and as I am in Paris the weekend of the 6th/7th I may take you up on your offer if you have some time.

why don't you give a go in London for Christmas?
got some good instructor addresses if you want wink.gif
Slaelia
Fine. What I was asking by being a liner or not was the simple:
Do you use this kind of rollerskates (wheels are in line)
Image IPB
or those (called quads)?
Image IPB

I practise quad, so even though I'd be able to give some advises, I wouldnt be a good teacher for liners.
Would still be a pleasure to meet and see how it goes.

The RER C skatepark is closed since 2005, this is called "ROLLERPARC avenue" Vitry-sur-seine (city).

you can indoor praticing in the EGP18 (metro porte de la chapelle), search for "porte de la chapelle" church, the park is front at 4 meters (lol)
or go to Bercy, this is now a covered park.

This is only avaible if you are a agressive inline blader.
Slaelia
Do you really mean that it's open only for inline skaters?
I've never been kicked out of a skaterpark because of my quads, I dont go there so often, but it would still amaze me.
