Hi,

this 15 september i'll be in paris and i love to do the FNS. what i was wondering is, do you need to be in shape (which i am not), is there a contant speed during t he tour or is it the speed like a walking/ sightseeing tour? Is it possible to join half way and start at Boulevard de Bercy? Where on the Boule de Bercy is the pause? Befor showing up on skates do you need to register first?

I did the FNS in 2000, i remember i loved it and that we started at Place d'Italy, but with regards to the formalities forgot i everything.

I hope you can give me the information and to see you at FNS

ciao

you don't need to register for anything (well, you can still become a member of the association if you want), and you can join half way if you want ! people come and go... the only thing is if you try to join in, you will have to find the rando ! easy if the pause is in a famous and easy-to-find spot, a bit more difficult if it's ongoing wink.gif.
the pause is not always in Bercy, it depends. you will have to check on the map a few days before.

concerning the speed, i would say it's not really sigthseeing ! it usually correspond to 25-30 km in three hours, with several stops (including the pause). in the summer there is more crowd so generally it's a bit slower, but in september it should tend to go a bit faster. if you are at ease on your skates and can stop by yourself, if you feel like it you still can come and join. if it is definitely too fast for you, then, you will have tried ! if not, just.. enjoy smile.gif

but in september it should tend to go a bit faster.

Not always, in fact the biggest affluences are usually in september because people come back for vacation, they want to show off with their tan skin tongue.gif and they want to enjoy the last sunny days.

And I would add that you have to be able to stop in downhills to do the ride.

Hi Annemarie!
You should definitely be a minimum in shape, we don't want ot lose you halfway through.
As said by a previous poster, the route changes every week, so if you want to join us at half-time, you will have to check a day or two before the skate where the break is.
The better part of the skate is befroe the break, especially in the summer months (see above), because after the break we often have to cut short the route, so why don't you join us at Montparnasse for the start at 10pm?
And don't forget to say hi!

Annemarrie..
I have the same doubts...
I will be there in october. Will you still be there?
I am a little concerned of the speed part... but as they said, if we are not in shape we can leave half way..

Take care, hope to meet you.
Where are you from?
Keep in touch
