I'm visiting Paris on Business 10-15 Aug and am planning to join the Night Roller 13th Aug together with my wife.
Where can we "warm up" during the other evenings? Is there a suitable place to inline in the evenings?
Is it possible to get the course plan for 13th August earlier?
There is another big ride in Paris on Sundays : www.rollers-coquillages.org/
You can also meet some riders at Invalides, Bastille, Trocadéro (jumps, slides, slalom ...), maybe at Paris-Plage
The plan will be available on this site (pari-roller.com) on Thursday (12th) or Friday (13th)
Don't try Paris-plage, it's crowded with pedestrians, and there's either water or sand under your wheels...
Avenue Daumesnil has nice wide sidewalks, once the shops close, it's fien for skating. This is a street leading off Place de la Bastille, it's the one along the Opéra on the right (when you are standing in front of the Opéra). At first it is called rue de Lyon, but Avenue Daumesnil goes off to the left, along the former viaduct, very beautiful. If you continue after the end of the viaduct, turn left on the small and short rue Brahms, and you will come to a small square with a round fountain and to the right the "Promenade plantée" goes off until almost the Bois de Vincennes - it closes with sundown though, as most Paris parks.
Enjoy!

Wow, sounds great!!! Thanks for the tips! We're leaving Paris on Sunday, so we will come back for the Sunday roller later this year. Many thanks!!
My wife is worried about her abilities for the Friday Night. What kind of tempo is it in? I've skated for a few years. My wife just started this summer. She manages distances well, but speed is a bit difficult for her.
Really looking forward to this adventure.

The tempo is quite fast but on summer it goes slower because of the bigger crowd (around 10 000 people when the weather is good). And you can quit if it's really to fast...
But the most important thing is to be able to control your speed, and be able to brake when it goes down

...and be able to brake when it goes down
and push yourself when it goes up
How many percent manage the whole course???
i think about 80% are able to (but a lot come after the beginning and leave before the end because the don't want to go far from they home ... like me < i always stop near Notre-Dame)
Well, as a tourist I guess I have to manage the whole course. Or else I'm not a real man;-)
I'm in training and I've ordered a new pair of inlines. Salomon P9P....hope this will help.....
